documento | Zimbabwe Report on the National Languages Conference held on 14-16 June 2022

The Government of Zimbabwe, in line with the objectives of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032) organised an all inclusive stakeholders National Languages Conference at the Elephant Hills Hotel, Victoria Falls on 14-16 June 2022. The aim of the Conference was to generate national consensus on a roadmap for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages and align the linguistic resources of the nation to Vision 2030 guided by the National Development Strategy 1 (2020-2025). The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dr E. D. Mnangagwa was the Guest of Honour at the historic national event. The conference/indaba marked a deepened commitment by the Government to promote the use and development of indigenous languages.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages.
