galeria-de-fotos | Talks on Language Endangerment and Vitality in Malaysia at the Voices of the People exhibition

Talks held in conjunction with the Voices the People exhibition on the vitality of Malaysian indigenous languages on 5 October 2019: The speakers were Dr. Roshidah Hassan (FLL, UM), Ms. Roselind Wan (Universiti Petronas Malaysia), and Associate Professor Dr. Paolo Coluzzi (FLL, UM). The speakers explored and evaluated the status of vitality of indigenous languages such as Temiar, Kayan, Bidayuh, Mah Meri and Baba Malay. They discussed some of the factors and solutions to help sustain the languages, including other minority languages. Ms. Roselind Wan, who is a Kayan, shared her knowledge on Tekná, which was new to almost everyone in the audience. The session was moderated by Dr. Patricia Riget from FLL.
