Skobots: A robot that speaks Taíno!

This robot just made Taíno history! After 530 years of silence, it spoke Taíno on national radio during an NPR interview with Danielle Boyer, Ojibwe inventor and creator of SkoBots, the Indigenous language robot. The bot also speaks Ojibwemowin and Diné Bikéyah.

The brainchild of Ojibwe inventor, Danielle Boyer, SkoBots is an interactive and wearable educational robot that teaches kids their traditional Indigenous languages, including Taíno, Diné Bikéyah (Navajo), and Ojibwemowin. Priscilla Colón, Co-founder of Casa Areyto had the honor of creating and recording the Taíno language dialog to teach kids basic words and phrases to introduce themselves, talk about pets, their favorite color, and more.
