A talk and screening of digital stories was held on 7 October 2019 as part of the Voices of the People exhibition. The theme was issues related to the education of Orang Asli children and youth and related to this, issues of identity and the language. The talk was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Suria Selasih Angit Asra Ramlan, from the Centre for Academic Partnership and Engagement, University of Nottingham Malaysia. Dr. Suria, who is a Temiar from Gua Musang, explored the struggles of identity, power and vulnerability of Orang Asli children in Malaysian schools and showcased the voices and responses of young Orang Asli to the stereotypical views about their attitudes towards education. The screening session was facilitated by Dr. Rusaslina Idrus from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya, who also discussed the education rights of Orang Aslis. She showcased digital stories by Orang Asli youth who shared their personal experiences, aspirations and challenges in education. The indigenous youth in the audience also contributed their personal accounts of how society views them.
