documento | On multilingual fonts created by Russian company “Paratype”

Russia contributes to the goals of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages.

Experts from Russian company “Paratype” created fonts and computer keyboard layouts based on the extended Cyrillic alphabet for more than 150 languages and dialects, including indigenous peoples’ languages. Being publicly available it makes possible to support indigenous languages even when some alphabetic characters are not included in the UNICODE.

This solution facilitates digitalization of indigenous languages, book printing, indigenous languages study, preservation and spread of multilingualism in cyberspace.
