enlace | Nenets-Russian and Russian-Nenets online dictionary

The project is aimed at developing a Russian-Nenets and Nenets-Russian online dictionary. The need to implement the project is due to the high risks for the preservation of the Nenets language in the territory of the Nenets Autonomous District, which is confirmed by the data of population censuses, as well as by the sociological study conducted in 2022 by the Yasavey Association and the Northern (Arctic) Federal University. Russian and foreign experience shows the high efficiency of developing interactive materials in digital format, including online dictionaries and translators, for the preservation of indigenous languages. Online dictionaries and online translators have been developed and are successfully functioning for most of the small languages of the Russian Federation that demonstrate the best preservation (Buryat, Tatar, Avar, Chechen, Tuvan, Komi and other languages). The creation of an accessible online dictionary on the Internet contributes to the preservation and development of the Nenets language in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, facilitating the process of teaching and learning the Nenets language, as well as translation from Russian into Nenets and from Nenets into Russian.
