enlace | Buryat animation “Arkhan”

Animation “Arkhan” is the first ever animation based on the folk epic “Geser” – the cornerstone of the mythology of the Inner Asian peoples. The epic is remarkable for its original idea, thousand-year history and artistic content, at the core of which lies the heroic deeds of King Geser, the Son of Heaven, who was sent to the earth to fight with monsters in the name of good and justice. Geser is considered a pearl in the world’s cultural heritage and makes an important contribution to human civilization.

This animation aims to preserve the indigenous culture and the native language of the Buryat people. According to the UNESCO Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger, the Buryat language is a severely endangered language with a growing threat to its existence due to increasing migration and urbanization as well as a lack of institutional support. By making the epic accessible and appealing to children through positive national heroic images, it hopes to raise their interest, allow children to understand their historic roots, and instill in them a sense of national identity from an early age.
