On 31 January 2022, the UNESCO Secretariat of the International Decade will present the Global Action Plan of the International Decade which establishes the terms of joint action, outlines strategic approach and major steps, provides guidance on implementation, monitoring and governance structures for the Decade and suggests measures to be taken.

UNESCO is organizing a webinar on “Quality, Inclusive and equitable Open Educational Resources (OER)” on the International Day of Education. The objective of the webinar is to raise awareness and share knowledge on the OER Recommendation Action Area 3 Encouraging effective, inclusive and equitable access to quality OER and to highlight innovative and inspiring initiatives and practices at institutional or national level. The session will focus on accessibility and inclusion including multilingualism and will highlight the opening International Decade of Indigenous languages (IDIL 2022-2032) and the new Guidelines on the inclusion of learners with disabilities in open and distance learning (ODL). Each speaker will address one of these kea questions: - How can collective efforts in the development of appropriate, local, multilingual OER can drive education and information in the opening International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032)? - How ODL and OER can be a game changer for education of PWD ? - How to enhance accessibility of OER and overcome the digital divide and connectivity issues in Francophone Africa ? The Canadian Language Museum presents an exhibit about Cree, the most widely spoken Canadian Aboriginal language. Six colourful panels present maps, photos and information on topics including the syllabic writing system, word formation, animacy, and the future of Cree. Building on the legacy of the IYIL2019 and as follow up to a decision on United Nations General Assembly (Ref.: A/C.3/74/L.19/Rev.1), UNESCO and the Government of Mexico, in cooperation with several national, regional and international partners, are organizing a High-level event “Making a decade of action for indigenous languages” on the margins of the International Congress om Endangered Languages from 25 to 26 February 2020 in Mexico City, Mexico. The High-level event will conclude the IYIL2019 with a comprehensive review of the outcomes, lessons learnt on the impact and provide concrete recommendations for the preparatory and transitional process of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages.
