documento | The Altai Territory adopted a Plan of major events for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages in the Altai Territory in 2022-2032

The document was adopted within the framework of the UNESCO world program "Decade of Indigenous Languages". The UN General Assembly called on UN member States to create "a national mechanism with adequate financial resources for the successful implementation of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages."
The only indigenous people of the Altai Territory are the Kumandins living in Biysk, Nagorny, Salton and Krasnogorsk districts, so the main activities of the Plan are aimed at preserving, reviving and supporting this people. Among them: monitoring the study of the Kumandin language in educational institutions, promoting cultural and educational events dedicated to the history of the Kumandin people, developing and publishing educational literature on the subject "Native Kumandin language", as well as creating a virtual museum of the traditional culture of the Kumandin people within the framework of the project "Electronic Encyclopedia of the peoples of the Altai Territory", etc. The timing of the events varies from 2 years to an annual event.
The implementation of the plan is entrusted to the Department of the Administration of the Governor and the Government of the Altai Territory for interaction with federal public authorities, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Altai Territory, the KAU "House of Peoples of the Altai Territory", local self-government bodies of the districts in which the Kumandins live, universities of the region and public organizations of the Kumandins.
You can get acquainted with the Plan on the official website of the Government of the Altai Territory in the section "National Policy".
