Youth Education Forum “Moscow multifaceted and multilingual”

On December 6, 2024, the Moscow Pedagogical State University organized a Youth Educational Forum for schoolchildren and college students – “Moscow multifaceted and multilingual”. The Forum is annually realized by MPGU represented by the Faculty of Regional Studies and Ethnocultural Education  with the support of the Department of Education and Science of Moscow.

The program of the Forum included two discussion platforms on urban space and its different “layers”, and two creative workshops. At the first panel discussion “Moscow Dimension: Where the City Ends” the participants discussed the diversity of the capital’s architecture and the problems of preserving historical heritage. The second discussion platform “Moscow Underground: Cultural Subsoil of the Capital” discovered underground “layers” of the metropolis.

The interactive part of the Forum was two creative workshops – “Moscow – Collage” and “Kulturnaya Metro Station”, during which students together with teachers showed their imagination and creatively presented an answer to the question “How do I see Moscow of the future?”. All participants received certificates at the Forum’s closing ceremony.

The Forum is the central event of the project of the same name. The project is aimed at ethnocultural education and development of students’ project activities on the cultural and linguistic diversity of Moscow and Russia. A series of educational sessions for schoolchildren and college students were held by students of the MPGU. The students prepared 15 lectures on the ethno-cultural diversity of Russia and its capital, the culture of the peoples of Slavic countries, as well as lectures on the Moscow subway and urban archeology. In previous years, the classes were usually attended by senior undergraduates and master’s students, but this time the initiative was also shown by junior students.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
