Traveling into the world of unique cultures
At the end of 2019, the UN General Assembly proclaimed the period 2022-2032 as the International Decade of Indigenous Languages in order to draw attention to the situation of many indigenous languages and for their preservation, revitalization and promotion.
In February 6 an illustrated book exhibition “The Rich Variety of World Cultures” was opened at the A. A. Aidamirov National Library of the Chechen Republic.
Russia is one of the multinational countries in the world, where more than 160 peoples reside. Each nation is unique in its own way and the custodian of its culture, passing on national customs and traditions from generation to generation, and brings its own to the creation of a common culture for all humanity.
The diversity of cultures makes the human world richer and more interesting. Each nation has created its own original culture, which reflected the natural living conditions, morals, customs and traditions.
The exhibition presents books, albums, photographs, magazines, ethnographic research, statistical data talking about indigenous peoples: “the Caucasus peoples’ traditions in a changing world”, “Chuvashia. Ancient and forever young”, “Russian Arctic”, “Kumyks. History, culture, traditions”, “Altai Republic: through centuries to the future”, “Atlas of cultures and religions”, History of Ossetia”, “Chechens: history and modernity”, “History of Kara-Kure from ancient times to the present day”, “Traditions and customs of the world peoples”, “Holidays of the world peoples”, etc.
Visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to learn many interesting facts about indigenous peoples, their history, beliefs, traditional way of life and crafts. The meeting participants got acquainted with the legends of the peoples of the Caucasus, learned about the peculiarities of the language and traditions of the Caucasians.
Books whose authors are famous scientists and writers give us the opportunity to be convinced that the ideas of world culture are inimitable and unique, because every nation strives to create something of its own – different and original.
