The Republic of Karelia summed up the results of the Interregional action “Dictation in Karelian and Vepsian languages”, which took place from April 20 to 26, 2023.

The campaign was launched on April 20 on the Day of Karelian and Vepsian Writing in Petrozavodsk at the PetrSU Scientific Library, where more than 80 people tested their writing skills in Karelian and Vepsian languages. Among them are representatives of scientific and cultural institutions, educational organizations, mass media in national languages, public organizations – those for whom Karelian and Vepsian languages are native, as well as those who are just beginning to learn the languages of the indigenous peoples of Karelia.

In total, the dictation in 2023 was written by more than 1,200 people at 74 sites organized in the Republic of Karelia, Tver, Leningrad and Vologda regions.
