The interregional music festival of Veps folklore “Pajokeraine” (“Song Tangle”) will be held on October 29 in the Republic of Karelia.

The festival is traditional and is held every two years. The theme of the Festival 2022 is “Pajata, minun kodirand” (“Sing, my native land”). The purpose of the festival is to present the Vepsian rural settlements of the Prionezhsky municipal District of the Republic of Karelia, Leningrad and Vologda regions as a single cultural space for the revival and preservation of traditional Vepsian culture. The festival will be attended by children’s amateur groups (circles, clubs, studios, groups, duets) from the Republic of Karelia and the Vologda Region, performing folk and (or) author’s songs in the Veps language.

Фестиваль является традиционным и проводится раз в два года. Тема Фестиваля 2022 – «Pajata, minun kodirand» («Пой, мой край родной»). Цель фестиваля – презентация вепсских сельских поселений Прионежского муниципального района Республики Карелия, Ленинградской и Вологодской областей как единого культурного пространства по возрождению и сохранению традиционной вепсской культуры. В фестивале примут участие детские любительские коллективы (кружки, клубы, студии, группы, дуэты) из Республики Карелия и Вологодской области, исполняющие народные и (или) авторские песни на вепсском языке.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
