The book “Lakhanako” became the winner in the “Best Publishing Project” nomination of the VI All-Russian Public Award “Keyword“.

The project of graphic adaptations of fairy tales in the Russian and Nenets languages was initiated by I.S. Shemanovsky Yamal-Nenets Museum and Exhibition Center and created by a team of authors from different institutions and cities. “Lakhanako” was published on September 3, 2022 at the opening of the project “Yamal Comics 2022″ .

The language of the comic reveals the imagery of the Nenets language and makes the culture of Yamal-Nenets autonomous okrug closer and more understandable for young northerners.

The tales represent the genre diversity of the Nenets legends, introduce the images of the northern people, and show the close connection of the tale with the mythology of the Nenets people.

The award ceremony for the winners of the competition took place in Moscow, at the VI Forum “Language Policy in the Russian Federation”.
