Open meeting of the National Organizing Committee for the Preparation and holding of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages in the Russian Federation in 2022-2032

On December 8, 2023, as part of the VII Forum “Language Policy in the Russian Federation” (Moscow), an open meeting of the National Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages in 2022-2032 in the Russian Federation will be held.
The meeting will summarize the interim results of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages in Russia in 2022-2023.
In addition, the initiative to introduce 3 new measures into the national plan will be discussed:
1) International Olympiad on Languages and Cultures of Evenks, Evens of Russia and Orochons of China “TUREN-2023”
2) North-Eastern Olympiad of schoolchildren in the profile “Native languages” and “Philology”
3)Adding the languages of the peoples of Russia to a nationwide Internet portal aimed at machine translation of texts.

The work of the National Organizing Committee will be attended by representatives of government, science, business, the media, and indigenous peoples’ organizations.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
