Nature and Ethnographic Center in settlement of Gornoknyazevsk hosted a personal exhibition of works named “Tasma Is the Pride of a Man!”

Nature and Ethnographic Center in settlement of Gornoknyazevsk hosted a personal exhibition of works named “Tasma Is the Pride of a Man!” and devoted to the 65th birthday of Gennady Kelchin. He is a journalist, translator, master and collector of folklore, honored worker of culture of Yamal-Nenets autonomous okrug.

The exposition featured more than 50 items, including about 10 male Khanty belts, traditional knives and scabbards, wooden household items and utensils, tools and beadwork made by our fellow countryman.

The exposition also included books written or translated by Gennady Kelchin, such as “The Humpbacked Horse” by Pyotr Ershov, Pushkin’s fairy tales translated into the Khanty language, and “The Song of the Tegin Elder” heroic epic first released in 2020.

Friends, like-minded people, public figures, officials and artists came to congratulate the author on the opening of the exhibition. The young participants took part in a master class held by Gennady Kelchin. The children learned how to make a traditional Khanty toy.
