1st Congress Indigenous Iberian Minority Languages and Linguistic Varieties (CILMIM)

1st CILMIM “1st Congress Indigenous Iberian Minority Languages and Linguistic Varieties”

The Iberian Peninsula, simply known as Iberia, is located in the southwest corner of Europe. Constantly influenced over the centuries by Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs or Germanics, there’s not too much known about the original natives and their tongues. Nevertheless, we can found nowadays much more than only Castilian Spanish: Euskera, Catalan and Galician regional languages have an official status.

Non-official minority languages and linguistic varieties of Iberia includes Andalusian, Asturianu, Panocho, Extremaduran Languages and many more! The “1st Congress Indigenous Iberian Minority Languages and Linguistic Varieties” (shortened as CILMIM, as per the spanish acronym) is a meeting to promote them.

This is an event for professionals, academics and general public. During the 6 hours of the conference:

  • The speakers will share their insights and lessons learnt on how to increase the popularity and official recognition.
  • The attendees will enjoy an approximation on the Iberian minority languages and linguistic varieties of the Iberian Peninsula.
  • The event hosters will provide with a networking environment for both speakers and attendees.

The 1st CILMIM, will be hosted at Sevilla (Andalucía) by the local organisators “Er Prinçipito Andalûh” and “Andalugeeks“.
