video-es | Technology for Taíno / Tecnología para el taíno

Presentation languages: Spanish and English, with French subtitles

About the presentation:
From the virtual classroom to artificial intelligence, technology is part of our daily lives. So why not use it to revitalize the Taíno language and culture? During this presentation, we will explore the technology being used to reimagine our ancestors and honor our heritage, to teach children the Taíno language while they learn hands-on skills, and to create the first digital curriculum, available on any device from anywhere in the world... completely free!

About Priscilla Colón:
As a writer, artist, teacher, and language enthusiast, Priscilla Colón has shared her passion for education by writing and designing curricula for K-12 programs and government language schools. She has developed training courses for linguists and instructors while advocating for students' needs for over 20 years. This broad spectrum of experiences has led her to what she considers her life mission: bringing healing to the Taíno indigenous community through the teaching and promotion of the Taíno language and culture. In 2021, Priscilla and her husband Ely co-founded Casa Areyto, an organization dedicated to promoting the Taíno language and culture through free online videos, children's books, and live events.

About Reencuentro Taíno Conference:
This first-of-its kind event, focused on the evolution of the Taíno language and featured linguists working on language revitalization, archeologists, artists, musicians, spiritual leaders, and esteemed members of our Taíno community from around the world.
