The Day of the Ossetian Language

As part of the celebration of the Day of the Ossetian language and literature, all preschool educational institutions hosted festive events “The Day of the Ossetian Language”.
The events were organized within the framework of the project “Conversations about important topics”. The children were told about their native language, traditions and customs of Ossetia. Furthermore children read poetry, danced, sang and played national instruments.
The project was organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania together with the state budgetary educational institution of additional professional education “North Ossetian Republican Institute for Advanced Studies of Educational Workers”. Classes will be held in all preschool institutions.
To celebrate the Day of the Ossetian language and literature, festive events were held in all educational institutions. Quizzes, competitions, quests were held in educational organizations of the republic, and book exhibitions dedicated to the Nart epic were organized in libraries.
During the celebration of the Day of the Ossetian language and literature, teachers were congratulated by the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania B.B. Dzhanaev, presenting the teachers of the native language and literature letters of thanks from the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The solemn event took place in the state budgetary institution of culture “Young Spectator’s Theater “Sabi”.
The Chairman of the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers, noting that they make an invaluable contribution to the preservation and development of the Ossetian language and literature, wishing the teachers good health, further success and worthy students who will appreciate their culture, native language and literature .
This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
