Language(s)+Museum(s) / Lengua(s)+Museo(s)
The mission of the Language(s) + Museum(s) Program is to provide an international and interdisciplinary platform for museum professionals, academics, language activists, teachers, and community members to collaborate and engage with diverse cultural perspectives and curatorial practices around multivocality in museums.
Our vision for the Language(s) + Museum(s) Program is to cultivate a global network that advocates for the integration of language, culture, and curatorial practices in museums.
We strive to foster an inclusive and equitable museum landscape where diverse linguistic and cultural perspectives are respected, valued, and celebrated. Through collaborative efforts, research, and knowledge exchange, we envision a future where museums serve as dynamic spaces that promote multivocality, showcase indigenous and minority languages, and engage audiences from all backgrounds in meaningful and transformative experiences. By embracing linguistic diversity and cultural representation, we aim to contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage, the empowerment of communities, and
the advancement of social and intercultural understanding.
