Monitoring the preservation and development of the state and official languages of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Organization and monitoring of the functioning of the languages of the indigenous peoples of the North

In 2022, within the framework of the state program of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) “Preservation and development of state and official languages ​​in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for 2020-2024”, approved by Decree of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) No. 355 dated September 15, 2022, a project “Organization and monitoring of the functioning of the languages ​​of the indigenous peoples of the North” is being implemented.

The responsible main manager of budgetary funds for this project of the state program of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) “Preservation and development of state and official languages ​​in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for 2020-2024” is the Ministry for Foreign Relations and Affairs of the Peoples of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The responsible executor of the project is the Institute for Humanitarian Research and Problems of Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In 2022, an analytical review of information sources has been carried out, based on the available data, a research program and methodology has been developed to identify the language situation among the small numbered peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), questionnaires and questions for expert interviews were compiled, expedition materials for 2022 are being processed. Expeditions were carried out in the village of Iengra of Neryungri district, in the village of Nelemnoye of Verkhnekolymsky district, and in the village of Sakkyryr of Eveno-Bytantai district.

As a result, it was concluded that the ethnic culture of the Evenks, Evens, Yukaghirs has undergone significant changes. But at present, there is a certain stability of ethnic self-consciousness and, accordingly, the ethnic identity of the indigenous peoples.

In the course of the work, data were collected on the organization of the study of the native languages of the indigenous peoples of the North – Even, Evenki, Yukagir – in the schools of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
