Lexicostatistical Survey of Sabah’s Indigenous Languages (2019-2020)
There has been no attempt to do a wide-scale survey of language relations amongst the indigenous languages of Sabah since the Summer Institute of Linguistics first carried out a dialect and language classification project (1972-1985). This present study by a team of researchers affiliated with the Borneo Research Institute for Indigenous Studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah is a lexicostatistical survey that attempts to provide an accurate description of the sound change, vocabulary replacement and Percentage Shared Cognate between the indigenous languages spoken in the state of Sabah, Malaysia. The lexicostatistical survey is part of a larger commissioned research on the Kadazan and Dusun languages.
